The room designs showcased on Sarah’s website are a breath of fresh air. Her spaces feel modern, without being cold or overly simplistic; in other words, the spaces actually look like someone lives there, not staged for a photo shoot.
She takes her clients wallets into consideration and also believes that it is possible to have good design with children in mind.
“I start every project with the following questions: How do you live in this room? And how do you want to live in it? For I believe that spaces should not be precious. There are no unused rooms or untouched furniture in my designs. I encourage my clients to buy the best things that they can afford, but I always respect their wallets.”
We caught up with her after she featured us on her blog, and during our discussion we asked what items in the Previously Owned by a Gay Man store she felt might work in spaces she has created before.
“These beautiful suzani pillows would look great in this room. I’d use them in place of the botanical terracotta ones. They pick up the green, blue and natural tones already in the space, and the red flowers add a kick of warmth.”
“I love this console table, and it’d work really well in this entry space. It manages to be both airy and substantial, and offers plenty of storage, too. And the white color would look great against the pretty black bird wallpaper.”
