A Home Bar!
Still clamoring for the bartender’s attention? Avoid the crowds, skip the lines, and amaze your friends with a signature cocktail* (see below) when you set up – and stock – a home bar. Bar cart essentials include basic liquors, simple mixers, and maybe a few garnishes – along with glassware and mixing tools … but the bar itself can be anything from a rolling cart to a repurposed armoire.
If you have a lot of friends (or a lot of booze) — consider these industrial-chic Mitchell Gold & Bob Williams shelves of polished metal and glass. Everything will sparkle, and there are shelves aplenty for a professional set-up.
Oh, the magic that can happen in an armoire transformation! We might cover the back with an inexpensive glass mirror to ensure maximum depth and glamour when the doors are opened – and the generous interior storage allows a family-friendly facade, with bottles and glasses tucked away behind closed doors.
All the good looks of a Swedish stunner (hello, Alexander Skarsgård), this cabinet allows a traditional bar set-up on top, with plenty of storage for the (less beautiful) essentials behind the cabinet drawers. Skål!
No repurposing needed: this vintage teak bar cart was made for cocktail hour!
For our summer signature cocktail, we want to share a grown-up drink that embodies all the pleasures (and celebrations) of childhood – a very adult Shirley Temple. Discovered over at Jojotastic, a favorite blog, who calls it easy-to-make, delicious & strong…try the Dirty Shirley!
