It is finally feeling Autumnal in the Bay Area, and nothing seems more indulgent than cozying up with a glass of wine and a luxurious throw to binge watch some television. Cinematic offerings have been mediocre at best this year, but television remains top notch. Here are a few of our favorites (with a little something for everyone)!
TRIED AND TRUE
Stranger Things: When a young boy disappears, his mother, a police chief, and his friends must confront terrifying forces in order to get him back.
This is Us: Follows a unique ensemble, as their paths cross and their life stories intertwine, from sharing the same birthday to so much more than anyone would expect.
Silicon Valley: Follows the struggle of Richard Hendricks, a silicon valley engineer trying to build his own company called Pied Piper
Curb Your Enthusiam: The life and times of Larry David and the predicaments he gets himself into with his friends and complete strangers.
Dynasty: Follows two of America’s wealthiest families as they feud for control over their fortunes and their children.
Riviera: After newlywed Georgina’s billionaire husband Constantine is killed in a yacht explosion, she is shocked to discover the fortune and lifestyle he maintained was surrounded by violence, lies, secrets and murder. She soon must step out of her comfort zone to protect the family and herself.
Friends from College: A group of friends from Harvard are facing down their forties. With interwoven and oftentimes complicated relationships with one another. Friends from College is a comedic exploration of old friendships, former romantic entanglements and balancing adult life with nostalgia for the past.
Mozart in the Jungle: Love, money, ambition and music intertwine in Mozart in the Jungle, a half hour comedic drama that looks at finding yourself and finding love while conquering New York City. A brash new maestro Rodrigo (Gael Garcia Bernal) stirs up the New York Symphony as young oboist Hailey (Lola Kirke) hopes for her big chance.
WHY NOT TRY IT?
Easy: Intertwined groups of friends in Chicago fumble through the modern maze of love, sex, technology and culture.
The Mayor: A struggling hip-hop artist runs for mayor to promote his mixtape and wins the election.
Manhunter: In the late 1970s, two FBI agents expand criminal science by delving into the psychology of murder and getting uneasily close to all-too-real monsters.
And if you need a great spot for snuggling up, we think these would do the trick nicely!
