This pair of 18th Century French Faience Dishes are a beautiful example of the glazed earthenware made by European manufactories up through the late 18th century. The delicate shape, palette, and hand painted Rouen-style floriform decoration are all indicative of the quality and character of these pieces. Donated to the The Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco by Michael Weil in 1953, the dishes were later deaccessioned and sold at Christie’s Auction in New York.
Good - slightly worn, has small flaws, but still looks great
Both have chips and crazing. One of the plate has a crack. As is.
