This late Ming/early Qing Dynasty red lacquer wardrobe from Shanxi, Provence China was hand crafted without nails and represents the simplistic style and master carpentry of its period; made from elm wood and painted in red lacquer, this impressive cabinet would originally been found in an important home – the color signifies “love and happiness” and often given as a wedding gift. Condition is consistent with age and use; the cabinet has been restored using organic lacquers to preserve original patinas, and both upper and lower doors have been hinged to fold back to wrap sides of cabinet; a new center shelf is not shown in photos.
Good - slightly worn, has small flaws, but still looks great
